This week we consider 1st Century Judean political players: Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, Zealots and Herodians. John 3 details a Pharisee’s covert and clandestine meeting with Jesus. Jesus’ brilliance in perception, love, spirituality and law, nearly overwhelms Nicodemus. Oddly enough this scribe was interested in love through purity but, Jesus expands his mind and ours, giving us a robust and unexpected answer to deep questions.
