Summer Movie Nights

Summer Night at the Movies!

This summer we are holding two movie nights at The Reach (1666 Kingston Rd) – July 21 and August 12 at 7:30 pm.

Join us for Pop-Corn, Candy, Soft Drinks, good company and a good family movie.

  • July 21 Movie: Remember The Titans
    • Staring: Denzel Washington, Donald Faison, Wood Harris, Ryan Hurst, Ethan Suplee
    • Based on real events, this remarkable story celebrates how a town torn apart by friction and mistrust comes together in triumphant harmony.  After leading his team to fifteen winning seasons, beloved football coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton) is demoted and replaced by tough, opinionated Herman Boone (Denzel Washington).  How these two men overcome their differences and turn a group of hostile young men into champions is a remarkable portrait of courage and perseverance.
  • August 12 Movie: The Wizard of Oz (1939 Film)
    • Staring: Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Billie Burke, Margaret Hamilton, Charley Grapewin, The Munchkins
    • In this classic musical fantasy, Judy Garland stars as Dorothy Gale, a young Kansas farm girl who dreams of a land “somewhere over the rainbow.” Dorothy’s dream comes true when she, her dog, Toto, and her family’s house are transported by a tornado to a bright and magical world unlike anything she has seen before.Unfortunately, she makes a mortal enemy of a wicked witch when the house falls on the hag’s sister. Now, befriended by a scarecrow without a brain, a tin man with no heart and a cowardly lion—and protected by a pair of enchanted ruby slippers—Dorothy sets off along a yellow brick road for the Emerald City to beseech the all-powerful Wizard of Oz for his help to return home.Winner of Academy Awards for the classic song, “Over The Rainbow” and for “Best Score,” the family classic also received an Oscar nomination for “Best Picture.” A special Oscar for “the best juvenile performer of the year” was awarded to Judy Garland.

SPECIAL Re:Connect

Wednesday, July 19 at 7:00 pm

Join us at The Reach for a special Re:Connect.  Everyone is welcome!

Special guests: Mel and Susan Finlay from Nation At Prayer

We have the opportunity to join Mel and Susan in a relaxed cafe-style atomosphere, as they lead us in praying for our elected representatives at every level of government.

Imagine the impact on Canada if every elected representative at every level of government in this nation was prayed for every day of the year.

Imagine the impact on the quality of decisions made, on our communities and our land if every elected representative in each province, territory and municipality experienced the power of prayer every day.

Sul’y The Stable Boy

See the Christmas Story though the eyes of Sul’y the Stable Boy.

For Advent in 2021 FHBcatc presented the story of Jesus birth from the perspective of someone who was there to witness the event first hand.  We all know the story of the Kings and the Wise Men. An often overlooked individual at Christmas is Su’ly.

We have created a series of seven videos of Pastor Ken’s portrayal of Sul’y telling the Christmas story.  Tune in to our YouTube Channel and watch as the Christmas story unfolds; starting with Sul’y first meeting a very pregnant Mary or Miriam as he knew her.

You will find these videos on our YouTube Channel in the Playlists.

Gift Cards for Christmas 2021

Christmas is a time of giving.  Please purchase gift cards for those in our community who are in need this year. As we do as a church each year at this time, we collect gift cards from supermarkets, coffee shops, toy stores, etc. and distribute them to the less fortunate in our community through our Benevolent Fund.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We are offering several ways you can support these needs:

  • Put the gift cards into the offering box at the back of the church and we will ensure they get distributed.  There is no minimum or maximum amount.  Please contribute what you can.
  • Donate cash, online though our Canada Helps page.  Just click here to go to CanadaHelps. (Select 2. Benevolent Fund and enter “GIFT CARDS FOR CHRISTMAS” in the Message box.)
