Listening To Your Mind

Humans perceive, recognize and distinguish data every millisecond. As our minds process data, we are driven by a major theme: what is best for us. In the 2nd inspiration of our spiritual  discernment series, we ask: ”what is the role of intellect in discovery, motivation and celebration in our lives?”. Paul’s answer to the Romans is of great help – Romans 12:1-3.

Spiritual Discernment 2

Here is a link to the “CHOOSING WELL, through Holy Discernment” document that Pastor Ken circulated during the Message today.

Choosing Well, through Holy Discernment

Hearing God’s Spirit

Have ears to hear… the will to do… what God desires? Through a five week series on Spiritual Discernment, Pastor Ken discusses our innate drive to know the right choice of millions we face. Our 1st inspiration from   Job and Jesus.: ‘Hearing God’s Spirit’; a prerequisite, a principle and a parameter of discernment.

SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT

Buoyancy, Balance and Breaking Through – Miraculous Mary

Even if we master buoyancy and balance, there are life transitions and situations which demand breaking through. In the last week of our series, we are inspired to understand the natural, prayer-required realities of breakthrough through the example of Mary of Nazareth.  Scripture is this week is taken from Luke 1:26-56.

Buoyancy, Balance and Breaking Through – Courageous Caleb

Life in 2016 requires balance; every day we have multiple options and choices in spending our time and talent, focus and finances, love and leisure. Numbers 13 and 14 detail the story of Caleb, a man who demonstrated balance in his relationships with his neighbours, and with his God.

Buoyancy, Balance and Breaking Through – Mysterious Miriam

From the day of our birth we instinctively try to ‘keep our heads above water, keep buoyant’: socially, intellectually, emotionally, physically & spiritually. With Miriam as our character study (Exodus 2:2-10, 15:20,21), we contemplate the realities of God’s will in buoyancy.

Buoyancy, Balance and Breaking Through – Just Like Jabez

With the 2016 ground rules for church fellowship in place, Pastor Ken introduces a 4 week series of needed,”Buoyancy, Balance & Breaking Through” in our lives. With reference to Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4 we consider how God’s love us keeps us afloat.  How was it possible for someone named Pain (a translation of the name Jabez) by his mother because of the pain he caused her at child birth, to achieve balance; to stay afloat; to make it through life? Tune in to hear what Ken has to say.

Ground Rules for 2016

Pastor Ken begins the New Year with his own version of the Top Ten list.  There are only eight items, actually. He refers to these as the  ground rules for our church in 2016. Inspiration today is taken from Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:1-7, Ephesians 4:1-6 and Romans 13:7-10.

Christmas Personified – In the Fullness of Time

Are you tired?  Has Christmas and all of its celebrating and activities been a bit much for you?  Well, just sit back by the fire and listen as Pastor Ken wraps up the year and his series on ‘Christmas Personified’ with a fire-side chat…and a little rambling on on, by his own admission.

Christmas Personified – Our Human Hunger

Picking up his Advent theme again this week (our Children’s Christmas Play was last Sunday), Pastor Ken begin’s this installment of ‘Christmas Personified’ with a somewhat dark tale. However, later on he bridges to Charlie Brown’s Christmas.  The Scripture passages for today are taken from Luke and Matthew.

Christmas Personified – Angels Announced

For the second Sunday of Advent, Pastor Ken looks deeper into Christmas in the series entitled “Christmas Personified”.  Christmas is many things – a time for gift giving, a time to spend with friends and family, but Christmas is not just an event; Christmas is a person.  Ken helps us understand this by putting Christ back into Christmas.  Scripture is taken from Malachi 4, Matthew 1 and Luke 1, 2.

Pastor Ken has made two publications available to guide us through Advent and Christmas.  The first is a document entitled “Christmas Day by Day” and it guides you through Christmas using Scripture.  A PDF copy can be found here – just CLICK ON THIS LINK.

The second is a document provided by the CBOQ (Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec) called “Advent Reader Online”.  It features articles written by the youth of the BCOQ from all over the world; one story for each day of Advent.  You can access this directly from the BCOQ web site at http://baptist.ca/advent/ or download here – just CLICK ON THIS LINK.
